Step-by-step: Solar System Installation

Roof tile Installation Process
1. Tile Removal:
Carefully lift selected roof tiles to expose the areas where mounting hooks will be installed.

2. Mounting Hook Installation:
Secure stainless-steel roof hooks onto the roof rafters using durable lag screws to ensure strong and lasting support.

3. Tile Replacement:
Reinstall the roof tiles neatly, ensuring a tight fit with no gaps or uneven surfaces for a watertight finish.

4. Rail & Panel Mounting:
Attach aluminium rails to the hooks, align them properly, and mount the solar panels securely using mid and end clamps.

Metal Deck Roof Installation Process
1. Layout Marking:
Measure and mark the panel array layout accurately, following the roof purlin lines for maximum structural stability.

2. Mounting Bracket Installation:
Fasten aluminium or stainless-steel L-feet brackets to the roof purlins using self-tapping screws or rivets for solid anchoring.

3. Waterproof Sealing:
Apply EPDM rubber washers and high-grade sealant at each penetration point to prevent water leakage and ensure long-term protection.

4. Rail Installation:
Mount and level the aluminium rails onto the L-feet brackets, preparing for precise panel placement.

5. Panel Mounting:
Secure the solar panels to the rails using mid and end clamps, ensuring a clean, aligned, and professional finish.

System Installation & Electrical Setup

1. DC Wiring & Combiner Assembly

  • Run DC cables from the solar panels to the inverter location using protective conduits.
  • Install DC isolatorssurge protection devices, and combiner boxes as required for safety and efficiency.
  • Clearly label all DC circuits for easy identification and maintenance.

2. Inverter & AC Wiring Setup

  • Mount the inverter(s) securely using a wall bracket or within a rated weatherproof enclosure.
  • Connect the DC inputearth/grounding, and AC output to the main distribution board.
  • Install AC isolatorsmeters, and protection devices to ensure safe operation and compliance with electrical standards.

3. Earthing & Lightning Protection

  • Properly bond the mounting structures, panels, inverter, and other components to the building’s earthing system.
  • Integrate lightning protection where required to safeguard the system during storms.

4. Battery & BMS Installation (if applicable)

  • Install the battery rackbattery modules, and Battery Management System (BMS).
  • Integrate the battery with the inverter/charger, and configure the charge/discharge parameters for optimal performance and lifespan.

5. System Commissioning & Testing

  • Conduct insulation resistance tests and polarity checks before energizing the system.
  • Power up the inverter, verify MPPT tracking and system output performance.
  • Test all safety protections including isolation, RCD, and MCB devices.
  • Verify export limits and grid compliance where applicable.

6. Monitoring Setup & Software Configuration

  • Configure the online monitoring platform, connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and set up user access.
  • Verify real-time data reporting, performance analytics, and alert notifications for system tracking.

7. Final Inspection & Handover

  • Arrange for and pass any required local authority or utility inspection (e.g., TNB, SEDA).
  • Complete all paperwork for grid connection and export approval.
  • Provide a comprehensive system manualwarranty documents, and a maintenance schedule.
  • Guide the client on how to monitor the system via the app and perform basic troubleshooting if needed.
